How do you pronounce "Deloitte and Touche"? (the accounting company)?

Deh-loyt & Toosh

The D is pronounced T and the e is pronounced x and the f is pronounced p or at least it would if there was an f in it and - aw, I'm bored now

Yep, the other girl's response is correct! "Deh-LOYT (accent on the the 2nd syllable) and toosh" is the way it's pronounced.

dee-loyt and toosh

I've taken four years of French, so I know how to pronounce it.
It's de - loit. The e is short. The oi is pronounced like in moi. The touche is toosh.

Relion is right, although I don't suppose anyone will believe us.

Deloitte is a French name. All the other pronunciations here are Americanized versions based only on the spelling. They wouldn't be understood very well in Paris or Montreal.

The French pronunciation is duhl-wahtte.

Toosh as in Touche is fine.

Deloitte is fairly easy to pronounce correctly. For a couple of real tongue-challengers to English speakers, try Gascogne or Bourgeuil.

There are countless French names in the US whose pronunciation has greatly deviated, over time, from the French original. Detroit and Coeur d'Alene are examples. In time, the majority use of "de-loyt" in the USA will probably prevail, and the true duhl-wahtte will rarely be heard. The present is a period of transition.
