Chances of getting hired at big four accounting firm after graduation?

Currently I am a junior in college with a double major in accounting and finance, I've worked as an accounting assistant for two years at a manufacturing company and I had an internship at Boeing for two semesters. My cummulative GPA is a 3.3, but my business GPA is a 3.6. Are my chances good of getting hired at a big four in the midwest or what else should I be doing? Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

Your chances of getting hired by a big four are just the same as anyone else. When I was in college, I didn't get past an interview and therefore I didn't have a job offer by any of the big four prior to graduation. As a result, I had to work for smaller accounting firms and I progressed to the Big Four (EY) one year later where I got my CPA license and I work on many accounts. So if you work hard and keep focusing on getting a job with a big four firm, your chances are still good.

I am currently a business consultant with one of the big four firms (DTT, PWC, EY, KPMG). I would be happy to answer questions that you may have regarding any of them. I am on the consulting side, so I don't really know much about the accounting side, but I will try my best. And I promise to remain unbiased and honest with all my answers.

If you are genuinely interested, feel free to shoot me an email.

By the way, Boeing internship = solid credential.

When I graduated I had a 3.6 GPA with a 3.9 in Business. I already had a degree in Finance and was getting a second degree in Accounting. In order to apply with the Big 4 they made it out like you were doing them a favor to interview and if you didn't jump through all kinds of hoops they didn't even want you to put you name down to interview. I basically told them to shove it and went another direction.

I ended up working as an auditor for the federal government. It was the best decision I made. I love my work, get to travel, and after 3 years I now make close to 70K a year working 40 hours a week.

My brother started at Price 3 years ago and works on average 50 hours a week and makes less than I do.

Don't think just big 4. There are much better opportunities than big 4.

As a financial services pro it appears you are building a good foundation for the career you selected. Focus on networking, internships and other "out of classroom" skills.
