What can i expect from my 1st year in working for a major accounting firm in the UK? |
I currently studying at university and am looking for jobs, i am very interesting in joining an accounting firm but am not sure what i would be doing in my first couple of years there. I will be studying for my acca qualification whilst at the firm so how much time will be split between studies and work. Also what sort of work and responsibilities can i expect to be given. Assuming you will be working in the audit field, I presume you would be assigned to audits or other attestation work on clients. Your first year would consist of auditing cash and cash equivalents, confirmation work involving outside third parties, physical inventory observations, fixed and intangible asset accounting, cutoff testing of accruals, testing for existence of liabilities, accounting for long-term liabilities, internal control documentation and testing for adherence to such controls, etc. |
