I the eighties, there were the 鈥淏ig Eight鈥?accounting firms: Arthur Andersen, Coopers and Lybrand, Deloitte Haskins and Sells, Ernst and Whinney, Peat Marwick Mitchell, Price Waterhouse, Touche Ross, and Arthur Young. Now we鈥檙e down to the 鈥淔inal Four鈥?

Is there a Group B accounting firm that might jump up to assume a role in the top tier?

The gap between the Big 4 and the rest is quite huge still. There is probably only one that is even close to threatening the Big 4.
