Accountant in commercial business or in accounting firm?

i just want to know which career path is better, is it very hard to run a small accounting firm in australia.

Depends what you like.

In Australia, I personally believe, if you like to keep up with regulatory changes, love to study (rather) continuously, then working an accounting firm may suit you better.

I understand that the pay is, in average, less than the pay you would get in commercial business though.

Of course, once you run your own business (and have others working for you), either in practice or in industry, it's a different game altogether.
