What are some cool accounting jobs?

Everyone makes accounting sound so terrible...but I know there have to be some cool jobs out there...traveling maybe??

Chief Financial officer- The one who controls the money in a big company. Cool paycheck.

Auditor- Check other company's accounts to detect irregularity. A bit like an investigator, but you search for clues in the numbers. Feel them tremble as you stroll pass.

Tax accountant- Help calculate and advise company how much tax they have to pay. Quite complex.

Cost accountant- Usually in manufacturing. You control the expenses, output of factory to keep cost low.

Financial accountant- Process financial data to generate report for the public, or director's review.

Accountancy is the language of business. Those who said it is not cool probably couldn't cut it at the exams or know nothing about it. Don't believe the geeky caricatures on TV.

I'm studying right now for my associate's degree in accounting. I plan to be an accounts receivable clerk when I finish because I don't want to focus on taxes--that stuff is waaaay to tedious. Depending on how far you go in your studies (getting an associate degree, bachelor's, or getting certified as a CPA) there are a lot of areas you could go into that are under the broad umbrella of accounting. If you want to travel, you could focus mainly on taxes and do audits--that's what one of my instructors does in addition to teaching. You could also work in payroll, or be a bookeeper, etc. Many occupations in accounting have their boring points, but if you're into what you do, you'll enjoy it.
