Fellow christians, why do you not accept the theory of evolution and the big bang theory?

I mean, these two theories are actually pretty consistent with Genesis 1. read it for yourself. God said that he created us, but he didnt say how. There is proof that the theory of evolution and the big bang theory are true, and these theories are also consistent with the biblical account, so why do you deny these theories?

NO BASHING please

To post #1 - What is a day to God?? He's the same God of other planets that take a lot longer to rotate on their axis...

I find blind faith in a book, which in actaulity is a collection of individual stories and other writings that was put together, that has had a few thousand years worth of editorial cutting and pasting a tad silly.

If God is so smart, which by definition is the case, why is it so hard to accept that the teaching stories used thousands of years ago conformed to the understanding of the physical world at the time?

Is it easier to think that the fossil record is just a funny joke by an arc angel?

I don't deny these theories.

Science (i.e. evolution) and Creation are not mutually exclusive.

Some Christians do tend to be triggered by this though, as their faith is still growing.

"I mean, these two theories are actually pretty consistent with Genesis 1"

If you want to reconcile science with scripture you MUST pervert at least one of them. Salt god on top legitimate scientific theories all you want; but please don't put it off as any kind of truth after that.

There are plenty of Christians who go about their beliefs with no problem accepting that the Bible is not inerrant.

You believe in what man says but you do not believe in what the Creator says?

God created us out of breath of life and dust of the ground. It's impossible for this world to have come by coincidence. The big bang is made up. God's word has power and we need to accept that. Even scientist testify that the big bang is nonsense

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=...

Oddly enough, I do accept them.

Actually scientist are actively debating the big bang theory. As to evolution molecules to man evolution is far from proven. Even though it is not technically part of evolution abiogenesis is far from proven. In fact no one has any acceptable idea about how it could have occurred. So if we cannot determine how that first life form came about then the first link in the evolutionary chain is missing.

Actually the theory of evolution makes absolutely no attempts to disprove their god, and makes ABSOLUTELY no attempts to explain how life started (the origin of life is a whole different category called "abiogenesis"), it simply explains how living organisms change over time; they need to pick up a textbook and look up a few things before trying to attack something they don't even understand.

The Big-Bang or Evolution both depend on matter producing information that DNA uses, as well as a way of interpreting that information, and matter is unable to do that. There has to be devine intervention!

And look at the actual structure of a cell. Evolution likes to talk about simple cells and such, and there is no such thing. The human cell hasn't even been fully mapped out and if just one part is missing or in the wrong place, it is useless. And people believe all that happened by chance or even over millions/billions of years.

You can only "kind-of" make those theories fit Genesis Chp1 if you convolute and add meaning to the Hebrew text. Each event has light and then dark and denotes each one of those as a numbered day. The amount of time in a day has never changed. If it had, at some point, plants and other things would have died out from either to much sunlight, or not enough, if each day were anything more than a 24 hour period. The Hebrew word "YOM" when attached to a number (1st yom, 2nd yom, etc) is always a day.

No one denies them as theories. They should be taught that way too - as theories.

hmmmmm.....

you said "but he didn't say how"....

you obviously haven't read the bible...and are not a whom
you portray yourself to be...

nice try...try again...

Gen 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. he made man from dirt. and woman from the rib of a man,en 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. not a ape. and God made the earth. he will not hurt it. or let man do it. look at what happen when that neuter plant blow up and it was .headed for here and God moved is hand and made it go back over there.

Which theory? I have read several and they are contrary to one another.

The two theories are not consistent as you say. God says He made Adam from dust and Eve from Adams rib. Period.
No mention of evolving from a monkey. Adam also named all of the animals, nowhere does it say he "came" from the animals, only that he named them. You say your theories are consistent with the biblical accounts of creation? Perhaps you should actually read the Book of Genesis and see for yourself.

Well, first of all they are just that...theories, not facts. But that is the least of the reasons. There are holes all through the evoulution theory. It was Charles Darwin who, nearly on his death bed, said "If cells are more complex then we at first supposed, then everything, EVERYTHING I have stated in my theories are wrong!" They did not even know about the nucleus of a cell yet, let alone the golgi apparatus, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, etc. Also, it is stated that we supposedly slowly evolved right? Where are the transitional species? Surely there would have been proof by now of finding just one-that would be all you would need- ONE fossil of a animal part way between one thing and another. But that doesn't make sense because an eye, for example, color/no color, you pick, that is only 99% complete still does not work. And why would cells continue on a path of seeming destruction because some things won't work at all until completely done? And if you wanna talk Genesis, you have to remember that Genesis 1 states (10 times I think) "each according to their kinds" or "-own kinds" depending on the Bible translation you are using. The point? I think God was trying to drive a specific idea or well, truth, home and that is that nothing can just 'start becoming something else.'
Big bang theory is, close but they forgot God in the equation!! Hello, where did the "thing that went bang" come from in the first place? But I think it is pretty close to what God did, in a matter of speaking, in creating this huge universe.

First of all, I do not believe there is anything wrong with science I see it as the study of what God has created but I do not believe that evolution is a fact nor the big bang theory. According to the Bible the earth has existed for thousands of years not billions of years and I believe in the Bible account. I also believe there was a mass flood like what is written in the bible and there is scientific evidence for this more than there is for evolution. Also, evolution was a theory created by a man who was prejudice, why do you think Hitler wanted to kill all the Jews, he believed in evolution. I think believing in evolution is scary, it teaches kids that we are animals. Now imagine we are just animals why make prisons then for people who murder. Evolution says we are animals, animals have no morals without morals what becomes right and wrong? I do not see myself as an animal I have morals, I have a soul that is going to exist for eternity.

How many Christians can't even get past Geneses 1:1?

God created the Heavens and the Earth by speaking it into existence, and he made Adam out of the dust of the Earth, Then he made Eve and Adam called her Woman, or man with the womb.

If God wanted to use one animal to make another thats up to him, maybe that is what he did. But people absolutely did NOT EVOLVE FROM APES!!!

Furthermore, the big bang theory is interesting science fiction. It was dreamed up by guys who believe that Star Trek is a reality in some dimension somewhere.

This whole premise is basically saying that a single molecule of unknown material, somehow with size, space and locality, existed in a big back void for an unknowable amount of time. Then for unknown reasons it exploded, excuse me,, EXPANDED鈥?creating time, space, matter, and all the laws of nature, and everything just landed here like this.

Our planet and solar system put themselves together by colliding comets and leftover debris from the big bang. Then a little warm pond containing just the right combination of the right chemicals and incubated into simple life forms. From there life miraculously began to evolve into more and more sophisticated forms and designs until finally reaching the panicle of mankind. But we are not done, no we will keep evolving and move out into space, making contact with alien worlds. We will eventually evolve into a higher level of conciseness until we become like God himself. Then we can replace God and put Man in charge.

No thanks, I'll stick to with my faith in God.

Science has absolutely no way of knowing what happened at the beginning of creation, let alone ponder pre-existence.

I agree.I believe creation and evolution go hand in hand.I`ve been saying it for a while on here. The Bible isn`t a fairy tale, its truth, but it has to be understood.

How long is a day? O...24 hours....that's why!
