How is attachment theory used to account for children's social development?

How is attachment theory used to account for children's social development?

er.. it's kinda essential, but a bit hefty to describe. do some research!

Children must form healthy attachments with their primary caregiver(s) in order to form them socially. A child who has not done this, usually due to caregiver neglect, will have a negative view of the world and a hard time trusting others. It is hard to develop socially without trust in relationships.

look up Bowlby's Attachment Theory and also try looking at Maslows theory .... Maslows hierarchy of needs ....

I studied early Childhood Education and learned that attachment is very important in the lives of children. Children who are loved, hugged, doted on etc. perform better in society than children who are ignored. Children who are ignored tend to be loners and can end up be suicidal. They feel as though no one cares for them and they must be a burden to others.
There is also too much attachment, that is when a parent or caregiver doesn't give the child room to grow, to be his or her own person. Everyone needs to have some form of attachment.
