How does the M-theory or superstring theory accounts for the big bang?

I saw a documentary in which it was said- some collision between - ripples over membrane- induces vibration on string- starts big bang,, etctetc mumbo jumbo.
I do have not much knowledge of astrophysics. Please explain to a layman how does M- theory explains the big bang and expansion of universe.?

with regards

Neither does. Both are totally hypothetical mathematical models. The "documentary" you saw made a lot of things up that the math can't predict (at this moment). Come back in fifty years and then we talk. For now, you just saw a poor "documentary".

In general, there is no way a layman can understand these models. Physicists not working in the field can not understand them. At best someone can scam you into believing that you understood something. I won't do that. But I will tell you that there are potentially better models in the making, one of them is called "loop quantum gravity". And I will tell you that if you want to understand these things, you will have to study physics for approx. ten years. A 45 minute documentary will tell you absolutely nothing.

The universe is getting smaller, yes? What will happen when it cannot get any smaller? It will in all probability explode outward in a bang of rather large size. the force of this explosion will have an effect on things for eons, like a nuke going off in water. tidal waves will turn to waves will turn to ripples. we're looking at ripples now.
