How does the kinetic-molecular theory account for Charles's law? Dalton's law?

How does the kinetic-molecular theory account for Charles's law? Dalton's law?

OK - Charles's Law is V/T = k where k is a constant. This means that the higher the volume the higher the temperature, and the higher the temperature the higher the volume.

Now to fit this into KMT (Kinetic Molecular Theory). As you increase the temperature of a gas its avg KE increases, making the molecules within it go faster. To keep the pressure of the gas constant (as assumed in the law) the volume that the gas is kept in must expand.

Dalton's law of partial pressures means that you can add up the individual (partial) pressures of all of the gases in a mixture of gases to get the overall pressure. KMT sort of applies here in that you have X amount of collisions on a surface, so that is the overall pressure by definition. Since these collisions come from various sources, you can simply sum up the different pressures and get the overall pressure.

Hope this helps!
