What % of payroll taxes go to public assistance programs such as welfare?

I'm sure this varies greatly form state to state, but I was just curious how much of my hard earned dollars go to the not so hard working. Use figures from your own state if you want.

32% of federal taxes goes to Human Resources ($748 billion) this includes:

鈥?Health/Human Services
鈥?Soc. Sec. Administration
鈥?Education Dept.
鈥?Food/Nutrition programs
鈥?Housing & Urban Dev.
鈥?Labor Dept.
鈥?other human resources.

You really need to look at each program and decide on a case by case. For example, people that are disabled collect disability. We all pay to educate everybody's children. As far as welfare for those that are able to work, a 1987 law sets up for each person a lifetime limit of 5 years. So, all in all, very little is wasted on them. You could save over 50% on your income tax by ending the Iraq war.
