Under what circumstances do the Inland Revenue provide free payroll software to a business?

I was told that the Inland Revenue can provide free payroll software to an organisation depending on the number of employees the company has. If so how many employees are required? What type of software is provided? And finally what are the terms of this agreement? Any information would be very helpful. Many thanks

The Inland Revenue provides free payroll software to any company if you want it. It's called the Employers CD-Rom. It calculates all the tax and NI, as well as SMP, sick pay etc etc. You then use the info to complete your end of year returns. You can order it online if it does not come automatically.
You do of course have to already be registered with HMRC for PAYE and NI payments.
