What is the major function of payroll system?

i just what to ask that question because right now i have a documantation about payroll but i dont know what is the major fuction of it.

The payroll system processes & produces the employee payroll.

Payroll systems are used to calculate employee pay (compensation). They take into consideration salary, overtime, number of hours worked, taxes, insurance, employee loans, and etc.
